Data Guardian - released November 17, 2017

This software was programmed using "Gambas3  v3.10.0" .

Don't be caught with your pants down! Without your personal and private data protected, via encryption, it might not only be embarrassing but sometimes very detrimental to your very  livelihood if your data is lost or compromised.

DOWNLOAD THE SETUP (deb) FILE HERE...

Full source code upon request - mb@code-it.com

Oh yeah.. I also offer a customized programming service. For a small one time fee I will customize the software to your liking.  There are several code changes that could enhance  this app - email me < mb@code-it.com > to "brain storm" these options?

Install and compatibility info:

f533f809b039ef35e3af0ce25e6cb4ce = the MD5 hash for data-guardian.deb

If you want to check to verify that the setup file you have downloaded has not been tampered with: after downloading the file -  type "md5sum thefilename.deb"   ("thefilename.deb" needs to be the complete path and name of the file) in the Linux Terminal. If it returns the same value as I have given you then you're good to go - otherwise please request assistance from mb@code-it.com

ATTENTION: be very careful, and use common sense, when you use encryption! (i.e do not encrypt files that software apps or the system depends on).

Also - there is NO backdoor password phrase coded within this encryption: if you forget your password the data will be VERY HARD to retrieve (if not impossible).

VERY IMPORTANT: before installing this app you will need to install Gambas Runtime  v10 files - most systems will not have these very new files installed yet.

Do so via the terminal commands:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gambas-team/gambas3
sudo apt-get update

ALSO

You'll need "ccrypt" installed - it is most likely available in your Linux  "Software Manager" offerings or you can install using the terminal command - "sudo apt-get install ccrypt".

This setup is compatible to install on "Linux Mint", "Debian" and "Ubuntu"  systems - it is a "deb" file.

You should be able to download it then merely double click on the file to activate the installation (just like Windows exe setup files).

This setup will/ should detect if there are any supporting files that need to be installed and will do so if allowed by you. More then likely there will be a few small supporting files you'll need.

Will put the startup icon within your app menu.

WebBro-ProPass v2017.9.24 -  original release September, 21, 2017, revised version (v9.24.3) released October 28, 2017

This software was programmed using "Gambas3  v3.10.0" .

We  read about it most every day - so called "hackers" have gained access to millions of folks username and passwords for evil gain or just for the heck of it. The standard, use to be, that  computer security experts advised changing your passwords (with a strong password) every 30 days as a security protection: but today they are saying 10 days. WOW! How in the world does a person find time to do all that? I'm sure you know that a big majority of folks just write their info on a sticky note or in some notebook - others use the same password for all their accounts. If you're one of those = it's high time you changed your ways mister ;-)

Password manager software has become, not only popular, but almost a given for todays world. This app was developed to be very secure but simple to configure/ understand without all the bells and bling - KISS. Oh.. and  it definitely does not use the "cloud" -  a security risk?

  • this software uses strong encryption (AES 256-bit) to protect  your password file  -  it's the REAL THING.  Please use at least 10 character password(s) to get the strong protection the encryption can offer.
  • allows you to add a site name, URL (double click the link or select and press the return key to go there)
  •  browser (default is FireFox) to be used for that URL
  •  your username and password  that  applies to that site (if any).
  • you can be confident = your master/ global password (that is used to activate the software as well as the password used to encrypt/ decrypt your  password file is NEVER on your computer as "plain text".
  •  it also includes a handy tool to report if your password was created over 10 or 30 days ago - in other words makes you a "to do"  list (to change the password for a site)  via a click.
  • has all the REAL needed tools and functions included without getting carried away.
  • be advised - it does NOT baby sit you. In other words it doesn't repeatedly ask you to confirm any entry you may give it  (e.g "do you really want to exit", "enter the password again",  "are you sure", etc...)  It treats you as if when you click the "Encrypt" button that you want it to encrypt the password list - not second guess you  by asking a bunch of questions ;-) BUT if you don't trust yourself and need all this "conformation protection" you can have me customize the software for you or do it yourself (get the source code).
