I think I've got some explain'n to do!
Not too long ago there were about 50 "Audio Type" software apps listed on this page - as you can see - there is none now. The reasons are this:
  • The last week of April 2016 I released a software suite by the name of "All Things Audio v.tlc1". It is being offered on the code-it site at This software is a "portal", so to speak, that offers ALL the audio software that was included on this page (as well as the apps offered to the public).

  • My customers and members have been at me for years to just package all my audio stuff together - so that's what I did. So instead of having 30 or 50 apps installed on your system it can now be just one - that has it all.

  • This will make it much easier on us all? I'll only have one app to support and you'll experience currently updated software - all under one roof.

  • I'm sure that there will some of you that are not too keen on this concept as I realize "you can't please everyone". My hope is that you'll at least give it a shot - uninstall all code-it 'audio type' software then get this all in one app.

KISS Screen Talker

Designed for folks with low vision or reading disabilities that might benefit from a simple to use 'screen reader'.

Features you're sure to like:

  • developed via the KISS theory - no complicated configuration or learning curve required - it just works!

  • will detect, and give you the option to use, any text to speech engine that's installed on your system (most all modern systems have at least one installed by default).

  • gives you the option to slow down or speed up the speaking of the text content.

  • 'hot keys' provided for all functions.

    • this is BIG! Use the global hotkey of 'Shift+X' to select, copy then speak any text content of the active window (i.e web page, email message, PDF document, word processor document, etc...). This software will 'speak' any text that is copied into the Windows clipboard.

  • option to record, and save as MP3, any text copied into the Windows clipboard - save it so you can listen to the content at any time from any device.

  • simple to understand help guide that lists the 'hot keys' you might want to use - you can also use mouse clicks to accomplish any function.

  • Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8 and 10 (32 and 64-bit) compatible.

TALKster : a 'Clipboard Speaker' designed for folks with low vision or reading disabilities.

aTime Shifter

I realize that most folks really won't give a hoot about my long drawn out description of this software but maybe it's something that will help YOU become more productive.

I've been promoting "text 2 speech" software technology for years now and to be honest nobody seemed to be very interested - most all of us hated the talking paperclip and Bob (Microsoft's talking help character). text 2 speech was always kind of a fun thing - but not used to it's full extent. I think that maybe the time just wasn't right for computers that talk to you as seen on Star Trek: but maybe it's day has arrived if it were used in a new way?

"Time Shifting" - Time shifting is the process of recording and storing data for later viewing, listening, or reading. In a workplace setting, the term "time shifting" is sometimes used in reference to flextime (flexible hours of work). In communications, the term "time shifting" refers to the transmission of messages or data to be read, heard, or viewed by the recipient at a later time.

More students and business people now attend classes, lectures and meetings with their laptops in tow - using it to take digital notes instead of via paper and pen. A few years ago this was not so due to the high cost of laptops and low battery life. I have been out of school for over 10 years and was recently invited to speak at a computer programming class at my local college. I was AMAZED at the fact that almost every student was taking notes on their laptops: you knew when you said something that struck a note cuz all of a sudden the clicking noise of keyboards went ballistic!! In my day this was unheard of - guess I really do need to get out in the real world more often?

As always - most folks find themselves strapped for time. So here goes my "pitch" - why not take advantage of what's commonly known as "time shifting"? Use this software to input your notes (within the editor) then via a click - transform to audio that can be either burned on a CD-R (I suppose this would be considered the "old fashion way") or transferred to your MP3 Player or cell phone (the best new way?). This allows you to be driving down the road listening to your study, lecture or business notes. Man, what I would of done to be able to do this back when I was going to college - bet my grades would of been much better!

How about creating audio eBooks that can be listened to from your home or car CD player, MP3 Player or cell phone? Here's a sample you can listen to... We've made this easy as pie - you won't believe how easy it is to transform a selection of over one million titles! Don't have the time to sit in front of a computer reading a web site? You can even convert a set of web pages to audio - in just a few minutes - listen to the content while driving, standing in a line at Wal Mart or wherever via your MP3 Player or cell phone. Listen or save the audio file of this app intro here...

Have you noticed that there are ton's of free e books, offered on the web, that are in PDF format? (here's an example - - just one of many). Within this software you'll find a tool to convert these PDF files to text so that they can be loaded in this software then converted to audio: a conversion tool that you will have a hard time finding for free!

The ability to listen to, instead of reading your notes, will surly afford you more time to do other stuff. Instead of wasting all that driving time (or other "dead time") - put it to use by reviewing your notes! Now you may be thinking "Well dah, I use a portable tape recorder to record class lectures - why would I use this method?" I guess my answer would be "Isn't it obvious? How much of the lecture is important enough that requires listening to over and over to be able to fully understand the content? Note taking is used to only record stuff that needs further understanding or to lock into your memory."

This software offers very advanced Text 2 Speech Audio conversion abilities. Will accept both SAPI4 and SAPI5 text to speech engines ("techy stuff" that you really don't need to understand as the software will just magically recognize most any T2S engine you have installed on your system). Most all Windows systems will have at least one T2S engine installed as default. We even give you links to download more - find the T2S engine that suits your style.

Ability to do most any type editing to your loaded file.

Convert TXT or RTF files to WAV, MP3, OGG, VOX, AU, AIFF, MP4 or FLAC audio file format via a click. Set to any of the many supported "sample rate" (mono, stereo, kBPS, kHz).

Includes tools to convert PDF or DOC files to text so that the content can be loaded (and converted) within this software. Now-a-days the PDF file format is being used more and more for 'e books' offered on the iNet.

Option to speed up or slow down the conversion. Merely set the speed slider then convert/ record the text to audio at that set speed. This is great for "power users" that want to really "get with it" or folks, with something like ADD, that need things slowed down.

Have the software speak all or just a highlighted portion of your loaded file - same deal with converting to audio (all or part - so you can record "chapters" or "tracks" if desired).

Includes a simple Audio Player, Batch Text 2 Audio Converter, Voice Recorder (in case you might want to record the loaded text via your voice instead of T2S), MP3 ID Tag Editor and a text based eBook Web Browser where you can get, then edit and save as audio - over one million 100% FREE titles.

Has been tested to be compatible (all except the 'Voice Recorder' tool which does not support Wins 2000 or XP) with Windows 2000, XP & Vista, 7, 8 and 10 (32 and 64-bit).

Batch Text 2 Audio Converter (text 2 speech/ audio):

Do you ever want to convert text to audio - in batch mode? This app can convert text to most any popular audio format 'on the fly' using the state of art text to speech (TTS) system. It converts text to audio directly without generating any other temporary files. To use -  merely add your txt (or rtf) files to the list, select the target path for converted files to reside, select what audio format/ sample rate to convert to then click the "Convert List" button.

Although there are Speech Application Interface (SAPI) on windows, the interface is very complex. Especially there are two major SAPI versions (SAPI4 and SAPI5) existing, which are not compatible between each other. So if you want to use SAPI4 and SAPI5 compatible engines (there are a lot of free SAPI4 voices on internet, so SAPI4 is still useful) , you have to spend double effort. Based on such fact, this app wraps SAPI4 and SAPI5 into a common interface which is efficient and easy to use.

It converts text to speech on the fly, no temporary files are needed. It directly encodes the speech output from TTS engines to audio file. And it supports a lot of major audio formats.

Just some of what this software can help you do:

Code-it Software, Inc. has been developing Text 2 Speech applications/ solutions since 1996. Our experience has been that most T2S applications are being used just for fun - they are fun to mess around with but are not being used to their full potential by the average user.

  • Create Audio eBooks - take advantage of the Project Gutenberg which offers a huge amount of free text (and HTM) formatted e-books. Record these free books to audio (WAV, MP3 or WMA format) then burn on an audio CD-R for your listening pleasure any where, any time.

  • Time shifting! This, in my mind, is the biggest feature of T2S that users have been missing. You can easily listen to any text content that has been recorded to audio at any free time you may have. Studying for a test at college? Record the content to CD-R or load it into your MP3 player - have it available while you are driving or waiting in line to get lunch, etc. Are you a business man or woman that needs to make a speech or presentation when you get to work? Use your commute driving time to refresh your mind of the content - recorded to CD-R and played in the car CD player or recorded to MP3 and loaded into a MP3 player. The possibilities are almost endless how "time shifting" can enhance your life and make use of "dead time".

  • Use to learn or teach English (or any of the other supported Text 2 Speech engine languages) as a second language.

  • Review your presentations via the "spoken word". Have you ever noticed how you can write something that looks correct but when spoken it just comes out wrong? Input your text into the application then click the PLAY button to hear it spoken!

  • much more...

Just some of the features:

  • Will detect and list any and all text 2 speech engines installed on your system. This includes the older SAPI4 as well as the newer SAPI5 type engines/ voices.

  • Option to use any installed text 2 speech engine/ voice.

  • Option to set the file format (WAV, MP3, WMA and others) of any audio file (converted from text to audio) saved.

  • Option to set the Audio Sample Rate of any audio file (converted from text to audio) saved.

  • Option to set the speed rate, pitch and volume of speech output.

  • Converts text to audio without creation of any temp files - encodes on the fly.

  • Compatible with Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8 and/ or 10 (32 and 64-bit) systems

Revision History: 01.17.2016

  • version number from v2.7 to v3.0

  • revised so will accept and convert very large txt or rtf files

  • added a "stop" button/ function - stops conversion process loop

Just for the Fun of it

Name that Tune : remember the old TV show "Name that Tune" - you'll most likely have a lot of fun playing this game/ software that's patterned to mimic the show.

The opening screen puts out a welcome audio message and guides you to "Configure New Contest".

Select one or two players, enter their names, select their gender, either add audio files or load a play-list as the tunes that will be played during the contest. When we're ready to start the contest - click the "Start" button - the contest will begin (after clicking the "Start The Contest" button/ label on the main screen!

Now what? The tunes (your play-list) will play one by one for 30 seconds. When a contestant wants to "name that tune" they either use the hotkey ("< " for the contestant represented on the left and ">" for the person on the right. Clicking the "Bell image" will also do the same thing which is to display a small screen to enter in the tune name - if correct gives the user one point - if not then just continues on playing the tune to give you another shot.

Play the contest as long as you want - when you get tired of it - click the "Stop the Contest" button/ label to end the contest.

  • the name of the tune you add to your play-list should only be the song name (i.e. Hound Dog .mp3 instead of 'Elvis - Hound Dog.mp3) cuz this will make it much easier for the players to name the tune.
  • it would be advisable to have 20 to 30 tunes in your list: the software player uses the "shuttle" feature so a file may play more then once during a session. Don't worry about the duration of the files - the software handles the 30 second play via a timer.
  • the app screen must have "the focus" for the hot keys to work.
  • if you want to display the tune name that is playing - click on the "wave" display. Click again to make it invisible.
  • this software is described as "the 60s edition": the only reason being that it displays images (representing the players) dressed in 60s type style. You can play any genre music you want.
  • it's best, or rather much easier, to load a 'play-list' of tunes selected for your contest. We have a 'play-list' maker that allows you to easily make play-lists if you might want it: download (and use freely) from here...
  • this software can easily be customized (i.e. 'the Celtic edition', 'the Country edition', 'the Hip Hop edition'. etc. The customized version could have the images changed to your liking, etc...

Eliza : are you old enough to remember "Eliza, the computer therapist"? If not - then you might be interested in how " Artificial Intelligence" was introduced to the world back in the 60s. No software to download or install - just a "web app" that is coded into a web page.

Video Slideshow Helper:

Yep.. I know. Microsoft gives you "Live Movie Maker" on most Windows systems for free - as part of the "Windows Essentials": it would be foolish, on our part, to think we could compete with it! It's a great program that I have personally used for years: it includes many features but lacks TWO MAJOR functions that I find very frustrating of not being included. So, what are these functions that are solved by using "Video Slideshow Helper"?

Creating your slideshow video is easy as 1, 2, 3.

  • STEP #1 - For the created slideshow type video to show images properly they all need to be the same size. Of course you can fire up an image editor and do all this resizing OR you can just use this software to create them (slideshow frames) before you compile the video (see screen shot #1).

  • Step #2 - OKAY, you've got all your images resized and ready to produce a video slideshow - but how do you sync audio (your recorded message to each frame)? "Live Movie Maker" offers no solution to record in sync - sure they allow you to add 'background music' but that's not going to cut it in most cases! I'm generally not going to want background music playing but rather my recorded voice being synced with the frames (message). We've made it easy as pie to sync your voice recording to the slideshow images (see the second screen shot). Just click the "Sync" button and record during the automatic display of your images - set the frame interval anywhere from a 5 to 20 second duration (whatever time duration that allows you to get your spoken message across).

  • Step #3 - After you have created your slideshow images and synced recording - open up "Live Movie Maker" then load all your project files (slideshow images & audio recording) - enhance the video if you want (i.e. add animations, visual effects, etc...) and BANG you're done!

  • It's a perfect companion app for "Windows Live Movie Maker" that helps you to produce slideshow videos that can be published on Youtube or any other video sharing (or personal) site! Here's a demo of a video produced via this software...

Compatible with Windows Vista, 7 and 8 (32 and 64-bit versions) plus Windows 10 Ready.

File Shredder Widget: released 04.05.2017

A "widget type" app - that you have to option of having activated on your desktop at Wins startup (the preferred way): remembers where it is placed and is exactly the image (or icon) shown above.

With File Shredder you can remove files from your hard drive without fear they could be recovered. There are quite a few software tools today for retrieval of deleted files under Windows OS. Those tools, often referred to as "file recovery" software, are taking advantage of shortcoming of Windows "delete" command that we all use regularly to delete files. Actually, the "delete" operation in Windows only removes bits of information from files so they appear deleted in OS. It is easy to retrieve those files using aforementioned specialized file recovery software.

In order to remove, or shred files permanently from your system you have to use a program that is capable of rewriting the files with random series of binary data multiple times. This process is often called shredding. That way, the actual content of the file has been overwritten and the possibilities to recover such a shredded file are mostly theoretical.

File Shredder has been developed as fast, safe and reliable tool to shred company or personal files. Place it right next to your "Recycle Bin" (on your desktop) then instead of drag/ dropping files to the bin - drop then to this widget to have them shredded instead of just deleted.

I've spent a lot of time testing (using file recovery software) and tested great for me. By the way - if you'd like a link to get a great free copy of the 'file recovery' software I  use - let me know?

Image Steganography Coder: released 02.10.2017

Can you read (or detect) the encrypted text content thats embedded within the Mono Lisa image? No? Well, you can "write to" and "read from" any image with this software.

Steganography is a fascinating and effective method of hiding data that has been used throughout history. Methods that can be employed to uncover such devious tactics, but the first step are awareness that such methods even exist. There are many good reasons as well to use this type of data hiding, including watermarking or a more secure central storage method for such things as passwords, or key processes. Regardless, the technology is easy to use and difficult to detect.

Data Guardian : encryption should be considered as essential in todays data sensitive climate.

File Terminator:

We all know that when you delete a file from your system that it's not really gone. If you happen to have any really confidential data on your system (most of us do but may not even realize what the repercussions could be if it were retrieved by someone wanting to do us harm) then you need software such as this that will protect you.

Opens then overwrites the files data several times before killing it (killing is different then just deleting). Load as many files as you want or easier yet - folders full of files, then click the "Secure Wipe" button. BOOM! they are then REALLY gone!

Compatible with Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8 and/ or 10 (32 and 64-bit) systems

Drive & Folder Watcher:

Use to watch, in real time, files being modified or created on a drive or within a specified folder. A good way to check your system for any screen or key-loggers running in the background. A nice little computer forensic utility app.

Compatible with Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8 and/ or 10 (32 and 64-bit) systems

Kid CyberSitter

How much should parents monitor their child’s online activities?

While there are many opinions on this topic, truthfully - no one but you can answer this question. As a parent, it’s important to consider your child’s safety, responsibility and privacy on the Internet, but it can be difficult to know how to go about it. I believe that fostering critical thinking skills in children’s online habits is vital; however, sometimes it can be necessary to monitor online activity in order to help keep children safe and hold them accountable for their actions on the Internet.

This software was designed to do just that - monitor (and log) all INTERNET activity - allowing you to keep track of what's going on in your kid's cyber world.

Features that you'll like: features I have NOT included also explained...

  • Most software apps, of this type, are offered/ sold on a "subscription" basis. Requiring you pay a monthly or yearly fee to keep the software activated. I have elected NOT to go this route. Why?  It would produce a lot more income - but call me "old fashioned" - I personally despise subscription based software and my thought is that maybe you might too?

  • This software does NOT send your logged information to a web server - requiring you to log in to view. Why? While it definitely is more convenient for you as the parent - I wouldn't want my child's information stored on some companies web server. Again.. call me old fashioned.

  • Option to activate at Windows startup - this is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

  • It automatically records/ logs all web sites visited: records the date and time, logged in users name and  URL visited.

    • This app will log URls when using Microsoft IE and/ or FireFox web browsers only but will however take a screen shot (of the active window) of any browser or app.

  • Runs in "invisible mode". The software is invisible until/ unless you activate it to show via the "Show Me" hotkey combo.

  • Does not show up in the systems "uninstall listing" nor in the "Task Manager" as an application running.

  • Gives you the option to log a screen shot of the active window - you can select any interval from 1 to 3 minutes.

  • Gives you the option to display a "warning screen" (informing the user that their activity is being recorded) - you can select any interval from 2 to 10 minutes.

  • Gives you the option to set the "Show Me" hotkey - this is used to show the app's screen so you can view the log vies, view screen shots, change option values or exit the software.

  • Compatible with Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8 & 10 (32 and 64-bit versions).

  •  License to install/ run on as many personal (family) systems as desired. Updates are always free here at Code-it.

NOTE: It may be against the law (in your state or country) to install/ run this type software on any computer system that you are not the owner of or is not in your control. Code-it Software Solutions will not be help responsible for your misuse!

Unlike what you might think of when you see the word "widget" - these are very POWERFUL PC apps to help get your work done easily and more efficient!

They are all larger then normal icons that have the option to activate at Windows startup (recommended) so they're 'at the ready' at all times  - residing on your desktop. They remember where you have placed them (on your desktop) and thus go there when activated. No ole fashion square screens - they are exactly what is shown on this page.

URL Project Manager

- this is a screen shot of the software (actual size) that will reside on your desktop. Move it anywhere you might want via left mouse click the drag and drop functions - the software will 'remember' the last place you put it and will place it there the next time it is activated.

It is somewhat like a "widget type" software application: takes up very little 'real estate' on your desktop and is ready for action at all times it is running/ active

URL Project Manager provides an easy way to keep track of all the URLs (links) that you gather in the process of any research project. Handy for students or just us plain folks that use the vast resources on the iNet to gather information pertaining to a certain subject.

The main function of this software is that it allows you to create, and manage a "Project" web page (html file) and records the URLs (web page links) that you want to save for future use. This is more or less like creating a new folder (in your web browser) then as you are doing your research - adding the findings (URLs) within that folder EXCEPT this software provides attributes that make researching a subject much easier and efficient. This version also allows you to add 'notes', to the project page, at will.

Has been tested compatible with Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8 and 10 (32 and 64-bit).

To automatically detect, and log, current URLs currently within your web browser - you need to use either Microsoft IE or Mozilla Firefox web browsers. If you use a different web browser you will have to copy and paste the URL into the softwares' text field which, of course, will not be as handy.

Protected Passwords:

Do you find yourself 'pulling out your hair' trying to remember the 'username' and 'password' required to enter a web site? Those days will be over by using this app! Uses encryption to keep your passwords out of the hands of snoopers.

The number of passwords, we modern users, must remember isn't getting any smaller. From social media to shopping sites, Web-based mail to online banking, site after site demands a username and password. Using the same password for all of them is a really, really bad idea, since a single data breach would totally wipe out your online privacy. But remembering dozens and dozens of passwords (over 50 in my case) just isn't feasible. Most of us just write them down/ store for future reference - a security breach for sure!

That's where our "Protected Password" PC software saves the day. Secured by a single password (the default password is 'password' until you change), something you can remember but nobody else would guess, it stores your passwords and automatically recalls them as needed. The password storage file is encrypted so that it can't be understood when/ if viewed by others.

This PC software is something you'll definitely want, and use. It's a 'widget type' app that resides on your desktop: allows you to add/ edit/ view your username and passwords as long as you have passed the password challenge.

  • Option to set to run/ activate at Windows startup (highly recommended).

  •  'Remembers' where you have placed this 'widget type' app on your desktop - places it back to this location upon activation.

  • Requires very little desktop 'real estate' (the GUI is exactly like the above image) -  configure to activate it at Wins startup and it will be handy at all times.

  • Compatible with Windows XP, Vista, 7 and 8 (32 and 64-bit versions) plus Windows 10 Ready.

We highly recommend that you test any encryption type software (including ours) on non-critical data before relying on it!

Web Runner:

This is a 'widget type' app that was developed due to a request from a member.

 What is it?

    • you might want to do this so that your choice of the web browser displays the font size it is configured to, remembers your passwords, or for what ever reason.

  • option to set to run/ activate at Windows startup (highly recommended)

  • 'remembers' where you have placed this 'widget type' app on your desktop - places it back to this location upon activation

File Guardian - we all know that encryption of your sensitive data is truly the only way to protect it: this app will manage this task easily. Encrypt/ decrypt files (or folders of files) fast and securely!

Snoopers/ hackers can easily access files and passwords on your computer, even without your Windows password. All they have to do is insert a special disc (such as UBCD4Win or Hiren's BootCD) into your computer and power it up. The computer will then boot from the operating system on the disc, bypassing the Windows operating system installed on the PC (and any passwords you have set ) - giving the intruder access to your files.

If you want to protect your computer from this type of attack, you have to encrypt the files that you want others not to be able to access. That's where this simple to use "File Guardian" widget comes into play.
